The group members share an interest in exploring and researching all aspects of military history, with the objectives of educating ourselves and stimulating discussion. We meet at 10.30am on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at members’ houses, taking turns to host the meeting, and present for about 90 minutes on a personally chosen subject. We all have our preferred era, and subjects have ranged from the Rise of Prussia to the Air Battle of Berlin and Edward 1’s Wars with the Welsh. In spring, we make a 5-day trip, often overseas, visiting historic sites such as Waterloo, Normandy, Verdun and Jersey. We also make day trips to UK museums and sites and give presentations to the U3A and public from time to time in Oundle.
